As we prepare for Christ's birth and
the Word becoming flesh we anticipate Christ's coming again. Advent is
celebrated the four Sundays before Christmas and the color of the season is
blue. In the days of Advent the Church welcomes the blues and purples of
dusk and dawn as the Christian community gathers under the evergreen crown
of the Advent wreath and prays for the coming of God's gracious light in our
time and place. We find ourselves in the waiting time. We light candles for
the Messiah who has already come and dwells among us, and yet our lives and
world cry out for the fulfillment of the promise that God's justice and
peace will flourish in our midst. |
