February 2010
Pre-Spring Cleaning!
Who out there is tired of snow? Of ice? Of cold wind? Of shovels
and salt on the sidewalks? I think our best effort to get rid of it
is to pretend spring is already here! So let's do some spring
cleaning! There are a couple of ways to help out:
1. Attic cleanup-February 19, 9am to 12pm. Like many attics,
ours' needs a little work. Come on out! There's a job for everyone,
including hanging up clothes, sorting toys, moving furniture, and
organizing Vacation Bible School and other decorations!
2. Records cleanup- as available
We have many old attendance and financial records that we need entered
into the computer, and could use anyone with data entry skills as you
are available. Talk to Pastor Aaron if interested.
This is also a great time to think about getting involved in something
new. We had a training for Altar Guild on January 30th, but I can
still meet with you if you are interested in helping out. There was
also an acolyte training on February 6th, and training for making our
bulletins for worship on Saturday, February 19. Think about your
gifts and pray and reflect where you are being called to serve! God
bless!
Peace,
Pastor Aaron
Leaders
Meeting, but no Council Meeting- Wednesday, February 9th, 6:30pm
This month,
due to the Council Retreat later in the month, there will be a Leaders
meeting by itself on February 9th, starting at 6:30pm. Come out for a
great discussion as we think about this upcoming year!
New
Covenant Food Pantry- February 16, 6:00-8:00pm
We have been invited to help with the New Covenant Methodist Food
Pantry, located at 1965 S. Broad St. (corner of S. Broad and Buchanan
Ave.) If you would like to come and carpool, you can meet Pastor
Aaron and others at the church at 5:50pm and we'll drive over from
there. This service is also available if you are in need of food or
other assistance. Please also feel free to come late.
Clean out the Attic!- Saturday,
February 19th, 9am-12pm
Like most attics, ours has gotten a little cluttered and disorganized.
Come out and help on February 19th, where we will organize the
clothes and household items that we give to the refugees and others
who are in need of basic items, remove some of our old furniture and
junk, and organize the things we often use. This is a task for all
ages and abilities, so come out and enjoy our time together! We will
start at 9am, and there will be doughnuts, coffee, and juice!
Bulletin
Workshop- Saturday, February 19th, 3pm
Each week, a member of our congregation prepares our worship bulletin,
helping others to follow and understand our time of praise and
worship. If you feel called to help out with the bulletin, we will
have a training that will go over why we worship the way we do, the
computer program Microsoft Publisher, which we use for the bulletin,
and the process of what needs to be changed and added each week. If
this sounds like you, please talk to Pastor Aaron, or come on in to
the training at 3pm!
Fellowship Night- NEW DATE!
Just a quick reminder that Fellowship Night has changed to a different
date- the first Friday of each month. Now, it's even easier to
remember: First Friday Fellowship
(FFF). Next month, we will be getting to know one
another better, so bring a baby or childhood picture of yourself, and
bring an item that is important to you (sort of like show 'n tell).
So remember the three F's: First Friday Fellowship, starting at
6:30pm!
