September 2010
Pastor's Message
I am writing this on August 30, which is the one year anniversary of
being installed as the pastor of St. Bart's. Over the past year, it has
been amazing to simply be a part of who you are, to experience what that
means, and to enjoy that time together. Sarah and I have been blessed
by your honesty, your generosity, your leadership, your hope, and your
faith, and it has truly been a wonderful year. Thank you all very much!
And so we stand at the beginning of another September, when many
activities start back up. I invite you to look at this September and
find something to be a part of, because there are many options!
Scanning below, you can see that this is not a congregation that is
staying the same, but is looking for where the Holy Spirit is leading.
Come and be a part of that, and bring someone else with you!
Peace,
Pastor Aaron
Worship
Times back to Normal, Sunday School starts back! September 12, 9:30 &
10:45am
Take note and mark your calendars because our worship time will move
out of the summer schedule and back to normal on September 12th at
10:45am and Sunday school classes will also start back up at 9:30am.
There are three Sunday School classes for young people: Pre-K, Grades
1-5, and Grades 6-9. There is also an adult Bible Study led by John
Conover on Sunday mornings at 9:30 in the Fellowship Hall. This is in
addition to the Bible Study that meets and Jack and Barb Fletcher's
home on Thursday evenings at 7:30pm. Please plan to join us.
Invite A Friend
to Church Sunday- September 12, 10:45am
Many studies show that what helps people to feel comfortable in a place
of worship is being near someone they know and care about. It helps them
to get to know the community of faith better and to more quickly become
a part of it. On September 12, we are asking you to think about others
in your life: a friend, a family member, or co-worker, anyone who is
looking for a church home. Invitations are available at the church to
give further details about worship times and location, so feel free to
pick them up in the back of church.
Fellowship
Night Starts Back!- September 17, 6:30pm
Our monthly time of food and fellowship is back after a summer break.
Come out, share a dish, have some great discussion, and maybe even share
a little about yourself. This month we will be playing the "Comfy
Chair" game, which gives a great opportunity to find out more about one
another.
Neighborhood
Barbecue- September 19, 12-2pm
Our annual barbecue will be Saturday, September 19, and will take place
in the parking lot. There are plenty of ways to help out: grilling,
putting on temporary tattoos, helping with games, greeting people who
come through, and much more! Please talk to Pastor Aaron or Dick Cooper
if you would like to help out or look for the signup sheet in the
Fellowship Hall.
NCD
Focus Groups- September 19 & 26, 12-1pm (After worship)
Please also note that our Natural Church Development process is
continuing, and we are having focus groups after worship on September 19
& 26. This is always important to continue the growth of this church,
so please plan to come out and be part of these discussion groups. Any
questions, please talk to Barb Fletcher or Pastor Aaron.
Howell
Living Farm Youth Trip and Fundraiser- September 19, 3pm
One of your youth activities each year has been going through the Corn
Maze at Howell Living Farm. This year we will be going on Sunday,
September 19 at 3pm, leaving from the church. But this year there is an
additional invitation to our non-youth members! For fundraising, Howell
Living Farm is giving half of any admissions from members of our church
back to our Youth program. This is a wonderful gift and opportunity and
we want to take full advantage! You can find a card for the fundraiser
here, so please go out, take some friends and family through the
maze, and support our young people! Any questions, please talk to
Pastor Aaron.
Community News
Princeton
University Orientation- September 4-11
Each year, we have been blessed to welcome new Princeton University
students who stay in our Fellowship Hall while working at some of the
area social service organizations. Please make a note that they will be
staying in our building the week of September 4-11 so you don't walk in
and surprise them and yourself! Also know that you are invited on
September 8 which is "Professor's Night" where those gathered have a
discussion about a topic and prepare dinner.
