The ELCA Youth Gathering is
held every 3 years. In 2009 the ELCA Youth Gathering was held in New
Orleans, Louisiana and the ELCA Youth Gathering will be there again in 2012.
Locally we are planning to send several youth and 2 adult leaders and maybe
more. The ELCA Youth Gathering consists of several areas including servant
trips, fellowship, worship and learning more about how God works in our
lives and how He helps us to work in the lives of others. In 2009 many of
the servant trips were directed at helping hurricane damaged New Orleans, a
city that is far from 100% recovery from Hurricane Katrina.

will give you much more information and a better idea of what happens at the
Youth Gathering. This event is larger than most youth can imagine, with
37,000 attendees at the 2009 Youth Gathering and at least that number
expected in 2012.
The youth are conducting
several fund raisers throughout the next year and everyone from the
Congregation is encouraged to participate and give so that you can help in
the spiritual growth and development of our youth. It is very likely that
this huge Youth Gathering will generate friendships that will last a
lifetime through the use of media items such as texting, email, social media
(Facebook, Twitter, etc.) and maybe even some letter writing. Pastor Aaron
has admitted publicly that his attendance at a previous ELCA Youth Gathering
was very instrumental in his decision to enter the ministry.
Please help our youth to
participate in this wonderful ELCA Youth Gathering. LBI events such as Among
the Wolves and Winter Youth Assembly that some of our Youth have attended
are only primers for this event. The total experience cannot be put into
